CEM Biofuture Platform Biofuture Platform Highlights International Cooperation and SAF Deployment at EUBCE 2026

The Hague, 18 May 2026. The CEM Biofuture Platform actively contributed to the SAF Roundtable held within the framework of EUBCE 2026 – the European Biomass Conference and Exhibition, one of the world’s leading events dedicated to biomass, bioenergy, and the circular bioeconomy. The high-level gathering brought together policymakers, industry leaders, technology developers, academic institutions, airlines, and financial stakeholders to discuss strategies for accelerating the global deployment of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF).

Representing the Biofuture Platform, David Chiaramonti, Chairman of the CEM Biofuture Platform and Professor at the Polytechnic University of Turin, participated in the “International Policy and Industry” session and moderated the panel discussion on “Effectiveness of National Policies, Mandates, Policy Targets or Market Dynamics.

The event featured the participation of senior representatives from major international institutions and organisations, including the European Commission DG MOVE, the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure & Water Management, Natural Resources Canada, EPE Brazil, the India Federation of Green Energy, Tsinghua University, Hiroshima University, GTI Energy, and the Philippines Trade and Investment Center in Brussels. Key industry stakeholders and companies also contributed to the discussions, including IATA, REPSOL, KLM, Neste, SkyNRG, LanzaJet, Envision Energy, RAÍZEN, AM Green, Godavari Refineries, Synfuels China, S&P Global Energy, and GASGRID.

Throughout the day, participants examined critical issues related to SAF market development, including the effectiveness of international and national policy frameworks, the role of mandates and incentives, regulatory conditions required to scale up production, technological innovation, and investment opportunities for low-carbon aviation fuels. Discussions also highlighted the importance of advanced biofuels and synthetic fuels in supporting aviation decarbonization and achieving global climate objectives.

The SAF Roundtable provided an important platform for strengthening international cooperation across the SAF value chain and fostering dialogue between governments, industry, and research institutions. The active participation of the CEM Biofuture Platform further reinforced its commitment to advancing sustainable bioeconomy solutions and supporting the transition toward a low-carbon and resilient aviation sector.
